Reblogging again because I got an anon last week whining cause they did this to one of my unfinished series and the bot killed Y/N so now they want ME to give them a happy ending. Like. No. Suffer, bitch.
The fact that this even has to be said is fucking insane. DON’T DO THIS!!
At the risk of sounding conceited, if any of you are tempted to do this with Lucky Child (my ongoing fanfic and enormous, multi-year labor of fandom love), DO NOT DO IT. EVER.
1) I will never, ever give permission for anyone to do this, because,
2) I am planning on finishing it, and,
3) No AI in the world could possibly outdo the plans I, its creator, have for its ending.
If you think an AI can replace the real human ingenuity behind fiction (not just mine, but anyone’s), you’re wrong. AI will give you a hollow facsimile of the real ending of ANY fic you ask it to complete, because it will just regurgitate stuff other people have written before. It will not produce anything new or original. And you’ll get AN ending, sure, but it won’t be THE ending. You’re fooling and cheating yourself if you think an AI’s ending will compare to the creator’s.
The “I” in “AI” is a misnomer. There is nothing “intelligent” about AI. It reads things human beings wrote and spits out approximations of the most common answer or solution to your question based on math and coding. It isn’t CREATING; it’s putting unethically obtained, stolen material produced by real human artists into an automated blender and spitting out what it thinks you want based on patterns it’s been fed (by people, natch).
It will never produce anything new or innovative.
It will never produce anything challenging.
It will never produce art.
And fanfic IS art, whether you want to honor it as such or not.
Fuck AI, and fuck you if you try to co-opt anyone else’s art through use of it.
